The Steering Board for the implementing of reorganizing and restructuring administrative units in Phu Yen province in 2025 has just held a conference to deploy some work contents for the coming time.

Reporting at the conference, the leader of the Department of Home Affairs - the standing agency of the Steering Board for the implementation of reorganizing and restructuring administrative units in Phu Yen province in 2025 said: The whole province has currently had 9 district-level administrative units; 106 commune-level administrative units (including 82 communes, 18 wards, 6 townships); 602 villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods. Based on the standards, conditions, and principles for establishing commune and ward administrative units as prescribed in Resolution 76/2025/UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units in 2025, the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units ensures a reduction of about 60% to 70% of the total number of commune-level administrative units before the arrangement in the area. It is expected that after the arrangement, the whole province will have 34 communes and wards (27 communes, 7 wards), a reduction of 67.92% compared to the number of existing commune-level administrative units, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Central Government.

The newly formed wards and communes have natural area and population sizes that meet the regulations, creating better space and development potential; harmoniously and reasonably combining adjacent administrative units in line with the requirements of development orientation to support each other, promoting socio-economic development of the administrative units after the arrangement; at the same time, it ensures inheritance, stability with innovation, development, having a long-term vision, long-term stability, being suitable for implementing the 2-level local government organization model and the goal of the administrative unit arrangement which is to build a Refined - Compact - Strong - Effective - Efficient political system; better serving the needs of administrative procedure settlement for the citizens, maintaining stability in security and order, and creating momentum to promote socio-economic development of localities in the province.

Addressing at to conclude of the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mrs. Cao Thi Hoa An acknowledged the great efforts of the Steering Board for the implementation of arranging and reorganizing administrative units in Phu Yen province in 2025; at the same time, requested the Steering Board and the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee are to continue to study, review and complete the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units to make them more suitable to submit to the Provincial Party Standing Committee; and the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee will give comments according to the working regulations before the Provincial People's Committee organizes to collect people's opinions according to regulations. The Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee focuses on directing the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Home Affairs and departments, branches, and district-level People's Committees to coordinate closely, with a spirit of urgency to advise on implementing the contents and tasks in developing and submitting to the Government the Project to arrange commune-level administrative units to ensure the set progress, before April 30th, 2025.

Emphasizing that the Project to arrange and reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a two-level local government model is not simply a matter of merging or streamlining administrative boundaries, but also opens up modern governance thinking, building a government that is closer to the people, closer to the people, and better serves the people; the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mrs. Cao Thi Hoa An requested that agencies, units and localities must implement synchronously with the highest responsibility, review closely, cautiously and thoroughly.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee noted that in the process of collecting people's opinions on the plan to rearrange administrative units at the commune level, all levels, sectors and localities need to listen to and respect people's opinions, but also have to provide guidance. District, town and city Party Committees must direct to well-implement the propaganda work, creating consensus among the people when implementing the policy of rearranging administrative units at the provincial and communal levels and ending district-level activities, organizing to implement the 2-level local government model.
